Friday 28th of October marked the launch of a special new European-wide raffle and guaranteed that twenty-five EuroMillions’ players across Europe would become millionaires. Known as Lluvia de Millones in Spain, Pluis de Millionnaires in France, European Millionaire Maker in the UK, and by other names in participating countries, it was the French who emerged as the victorious nation on the night.
Which Country performed best in the first ever European Millionaire Maker?
8 French ticket holders matched the full unique codes to scoop up €1 million each on Pluis de Millionnaires, while there were 4 winners each from Belgium and Spain. Luxembourg had three millionaires, as did the UK, while two winners came from Portugal and one lucky winner from Switzerland. Even though none of the 25 codes matched an Austrian ticket holder, Austria’s national lottery board pledged an additional €1 million to be given away to a random ticket holder in the country.
Besides the special start to this newly launched event, the EuroMillions top prize was also claimed as a lucky participant from Portugal matched all 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Stars to win €17.3 million. The win came only after two draws since the top prize was claimed. A player from Belgium won €50.1 million on Tuesday 25th October.
