Powerball update – after more than 18 rollovers and 9 weeks without a jackpot winner, someone has finally cracked the Powerball code and won the top prize, with another lucky winner scooped up $2 million (€1.8 million) on Thursday 23rd of February’s drawing .
Accroding to Powerball officials, the top prize winning ticket for last Thursday’s €391 million jackpot was sold in the state of Indiana. The toal jackpot cash value of the prize was $263.4 million. (€264 million).
The $435.3 million (€391 million) jackpot currently sits in 10th spot as the 10th largest jackpot in Powerball’s history.
Earlier that week, the top prize was $403 million (€380 million) for the previous drawing but quickly climbed in the hours before Thursday’s drawing due to a wave of ticket sales.
The second-tier prize ticket holder matched five numbers but failed to guess the Powerball number. Whoever bought opted for the PowerPlay option (available only in the USA) and won $2 million (€1.9 million) instead of $1 million (€890,000). In total 8 ssecond tier tickets have been sold. Each worth $1 million (€890,000).
