Powerball News – a woman from Queensland insisted on checking her hubby’s Powerball ticket from last week… not only did she realise they’d won the $15 million (€14 million) jackpot. Her husband admitted that they could have binned it otherwise
When the overjoyed couple quickly found out they were the missing winners of last Thursday, 9th of February Powerball draw, they were overwhelmed and in tears.
“Oh wow! Oh beautiful! Oh wow! My wife is screaming here,” the buzzing husband exclaimed.
“It’s bloody awesome. My wife’s going mental!”
The woman said: “I’m crying! We’re set up for the rest of our lives!”
The fortunate young couple wish to remain anonymous, said they were both regular Powerball players, the husband explained that he had purchased the winning Powerball ticket last week.
“My wife’s got a Winners Circle Card that we usually register our lotto tickets to, but I just went in on Thursday to get a coffee and I thought ‘Bugger it, it’s $15 million! I’ve got to grab a ticket!’,” he said.
“I didn’t even think to check it. My wife saw the ticket in my wallet today and said ‘that Powerball prize hasn’t been claimed yet — let me check that’.
“I’m glad my wife insisted I did, I could’ve thrown the bloody thing out!”
The couple said they planned to share the prize with their family and go overseas in the future.
“We’re going to see the world!” the man said.
“I’d love to go see America, Canada and Europe.”
