It’s always nice to be rich, but unless we win the lottery, we’re almost certain going to cut down on splurging after Christmas, but hey! it’s almost week two into the new year, and you may be going through a post holidays spending hang-over, and while it’s usually about that time to make ‘grown-up’ financial New Year’s resolutions, you still find yourself in need to purchase all of life’s essentials. You might have even fought temptations to make major purchases until the post-holidays’ sales kicked in. Luckily, Sales usually start in January. Winter Clothing
Winter apparel was always going to be in any best buys in January list. Clothing deals most notably dominate post-holidays’ sales. in 2016, the best or tied for it came from Brooks Brothers, Nike, Gap Factory, Nautica, Tory Burch, and many more. Sweaters, hats, winter coats and gloves will see bigger price slashes now than they did during Black Friday. Last year, discounts went as high as 70% off select items with most discounts averaging between 40% and 50%, and even bigger price cuts on clearance items.
Early Valentine’s Day Gifts
Nothing says love more than an early and thoughtful gift and you can save a few bucks while you’re at it too! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Luckily, January sees various sales on pearls and diamonds from retailers. And lots of those pawn shops end-of-year sales will include accessories and jewellery. It pays to shop early for Valentine’s Day gifts, since accessories and jewellery are usually on sale during after-Christmas promotions and a favourite in any best buys in January list.
Watches
There isn’t quite a better time to buy watches than January, with twice the number of Editors’ Choice deals than average. Watch sales include discounts on everything from affordable Timex and Casio watches, to mid-range brands like Raymond Weil Hamilton, and Movado pieces, and if you search carefully enough, you’ll even find a few deals on TAG Heuer and Rolex watches.
Bedding, Linens and Towels
In 1878, John Wanamaker, an innovative marketer and merchant, wanted to increase business during the awfully slow months of winter, so he discounted bed linens and thus began the famous January sales that we’re so fond of. Department stores like JCPenney, Wayfair, Target and L.L Bean offer sales up to 50% off all your bedding needs. Price slashes usually include towels, and sometimes even other Kitchen and bathroom necessities.
Christmas Decor
We know that this sounds borderline ridiculous, but the month of January is the best month to purchase your Christmas decorations. We suggest that you think ahead and stock up for the next holiday season! in 2016, shoppers saw huge post-holidays decor clearances from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Pottery Barn and Target. Most prices go for 70% off the seasonal inventory, with some stores even going as high as 89%. Look for discounted lights, trees, ornaments, model villages, stockings and more.
